Joan specializes in a type of yoga that is very individualized,so it is great for all people with various skill levels and rest assured that you will be able to get a lot out of her classes even if you have some health issues because Joan will show you how to modify the poses. Yoga classes with Joan are wonderful! Joan has a way of teaching yoga that both invigorates and relaxes me, an amazing combination! Her style of teaching, in the Kripalu tradition, is very accommodating for all people, regardless of their ability or experience. I never have to look over to see what my classmates are doing because we are all doing yoga "our way." Joan's relaxation meditation is the best ever! All-in-all, a marvelous experience!

I think the reason I liked Joan's class the most was because I felt nurtured and supported as a whole person. Loved the variation of music and how she could tell us what was happening in our bodies with many of the poses ( e.g.: "this will squeeze out toxins and when you relax, the area will be flooded with fresh fluid.")
After our session, I felt truly relaxed throughout my body and especially experienced relief in my problem areas in my neck, shoulders & upper back. I noticed over time that I became much more flexible, both in and out of class. I think the physical rewards are greatest when the class is geared to the challenging side of "gentle" practice. I have yoga DVD's but I do find Joan's style and her class structure to be most motivating!
